Reality Leadership Blog

On your journey to build Reality-Based Leadership principles in your office, it’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed as you decide where to begin! We know you’ve enthusiastically dug in, watched the videos, and feel armed with great ideas! And suddenly you discover that sometimes, starting is the hardest part!

Don’t let your ego get sneaky on you here – it loves to generate thoughts such as, “Everything must be perfect including timing, resources and support,” before you can launch this effort. This is where you can immediately apply the Edit Your Story tool to interrupt your thinking and put to rest those limiting beliefs. The best way to launch a Reality-Based Leadership philosophy begins with succeeding in spite of your circumstances today, and here are some ideas to get you started on your journey. Pick one and work with a willing group that will help you advocate – you can change culture by simply starting with warming up a few team climates.

1. Begin with yourself. Here is a great reminder of the Reality-Based Leadership bottom lines and tools. Pick one or two that you feel confident with and try them with a willing group of participants.
2. Pick a willing group of leaders and begin a book club. Many of our organizations have kicked off the message this way with amazing results.
3. Share the following videos with a group of willing leaders – ask for their advocacy as you use the new tools and inspire new mindsets.
Many of our top Reality-Based Leadership organizations begin simply with one great leader who lived the philosophy themselves. Their actions inspired others to take a look, and their advocacy and commitment to work with the willing inspired a transformational movement.

Keep ditching the drama!
